About Bryan Semple
I am an independent supply chain consultant working mainly in the healthcare, 3PL and e-commerce sectors.
Having done a bit of mountain biking in the past in the Peak District, North Wales and the Lakes, I switched to a gravel/cross bike a couple of years ago as a result of working on a project for a very well known cycling, running and triathlon equipment online retailer, inspiring me to get a bit fitter.
A lover of the great outdoors, I have taken part in a few off-road duathlons, trail runs, AdventureX and road sportives and joined my local cycling club in 2017. I completed my first major cycling challenge, riding Coast to Coast from Whitehaven, Cumbria to Tynemouth in October. Feeling inspired by this achievement I picked up the phone and managed to secure one of the last places on the Zambia challenge.
I was particularly keen to join the Cycle Zambia challenge as the provision of healthcare in Africa has a very clear resonance with my professional life. I have worked in the healthcare sector in various roles over the past 12 years, including most recently with NHS Blood and Transplant. I have also worked and spoken at conferences in Africa, working with governments, aid agencies and NGOs, helping to build healthcare facilities in sub-saharan Africa. However, I am even more inspired by the work of Transaid and the CILT and this is a great opportunity to do something extraordinary to support their efforts.
